This wine is long, supple and shows great persistence. The elongated period of its season has perfected what we're looking for. It helped grapes build flavour rather than rush headlong to full maturity. Now at several years in bottle, it has subtle development of some secondary characters.

This vintage opens with lovely dark cherry and berry aromas with spice and cardamon notes. On the palate, the wine is textured, long and refreshed by acid balance.

It was fermented with 15% whole bunch giving it the structure to age gracefully over 10 more years. Aged in both new and old French barriques for 15 months

Review from Andrew Caillard, MW: 95 points

Medium crimson. Lovely intense strawberry pastille, cola/ chinotto, hint marzipan aromas. Classical strawberry, dark cherry fruits, persistent chalky lacy tannins, very good mid palate viscosity and buoyancy, underlying marzipan, vanilla notes and well balanced linear fresh acidity. Finishes firm and minerally. Very evocative wine. 13.2% alc 95 points

Full Description

This wine is made from our vines comprising a mixture of 34 year old and 16 year old M.V. 6 Pinot.

2018 was a year of contrasts. With a very wet winter and cooler spring temperatures, vine growth slowed and delayed the fruit set to early December. Then the summer sun and warmth had the growth setting sail. With lower rains than average, we saw a long slow ripening period.

Tasting notes

The wines are long, supple and show great persistence. After several years in bottle this now shows the subtle development of some secondary characters.
